Monthly Meetings and Topics

Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The location is the EAA hangar adjoining the parking lot of the Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum. Dinner and Social Hour start at 5:30 PM with the business meeting beginning at about 6:30 PM. See below to learn about each month's special guest.

May 13th, 2025

Bryan Hunt will be speaking about his Fly Baby. The Fly Baby is a single-seat, open cockpit, folding-wing monoplane powered by engines ranging from 65 to 100 HP. It was originally designed in 1960 to compete in the first (and so far, only EAA design competition). It is built primarily of wood, with fabric covering. Most are powered by Continental A-65, C-75, C-85, or O-200 engines. Performance is sprightly; a bit better than that of, say, an Aeronca Champ.

Nathan Jones of Code One Aviation will be speaking about his business, Code 1 Aviation. It is the national leader in jet warbird maintenance and restorations.

Our guest speaker will be Ed Finnigan. Ed is a Warbird DPE. Come and learn about certification to fly experimental class Warbirds such as the Mustang and Corsair. We hope to see you there.

Our special guest this month is Ed O’Brien presenting his impression of Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker. Not only was Capt. Eddie the US Ace of Aces of WWI he was also a renowned race car driver who went on the be President of Eastern Airlines and owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Our traditional Christmas Celebration is a Pot Luck dinner. The Chapter will supply the main course. This year featuring pot roast with potatoes, carrots and gravy. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share!

We will be joined by Mr. Jurg Grossenbacher of the Milwaukee FSDO. Jurg will be presenting "Landings Unraveled." Take offs and landings account for 70% of GA accidents. The State of Wisconsin experienced 31 landing accidents in FY 2024 alone. Good landings don't happen by accident. Please join us for this informative talk.

Our speaker will be Dwight Van Meerveld.He is bringing his bright yellow Vans RV-7A to share with us.Dwight will be talking about the challenging cowling conversion he undertook to get his engine running perfectly.

In February we will be joined by Bruce Shipp. Bruce a former USAF fighter pilot will be sharing his experiences flying the F-106 Delta Dart in support of the Pacer Six Full Scale Aerial Target Program. Kerry Peters will be cooking. Dinner will be Roasted Chicken.

Jan 16th, 2024

Our first Chapter meeting of 2024 will be held on Tuesday January 9. Dinner and social hour will begin at 5:30 PM. “Taco Tuesday”, by Tonya Murray, is on the menu. The business meeting and presentation will start at about 6:30. We will be joined by Curt Lewis of Loves Park to learn about the sport of Glider Racing and Curt’s two National Championship victories in 2022 and 2023.
